Your average commercial reference lab, to whom doctors’ offices might send samples for testing, generally have a small book about 3/8″ thick containing a list of the tests they offer. That is, there are more tests than you can shake a stick at. They wouldn’t have done a pregnancy test unless it was ordered. There’s an old adage in medicine that when dealing with women of childbearing age, you ask her menstrual history, ask if there’s any possibility of pregnancy, and if she says “no,” then the doctor should believe her…..and get a pregnancy test. With that in mind, it’s quite possible, and even likely, your doctor ordered one, and he’s the one you should be asking.
