Are there different types and grades of granite?
Since granite is extracted from quarries around the world and there is no governing body for quality control in the industry, the actual tiles & slabs themselves are graded based on numerous variables including colour, hardness and overall durability. The grades range from first grade which is top quality to commercial grade which is a much lower quality. Be sure to check the grade of the product that you are acquiring to insure that you are comparing apples to apples with the granite being offered from various suppliers.
