Are there different stretches for warm up and cool down?
You can use the same stretches for both, but warm up should be shorter and not as deep. Maybe 8-10 seconds, whereas you would want to hold them for twice that long on cool down, and you can get a much better stretch after the muscle is warm from exercise. Always, always listen to your body. If a stretch feels like it’s pulling too much, don’t go any farther. Also, don’t bounce- this can damage the muscles. There is a great book out called “Stretching Anatomy” that gives great stretches and pointers, as well as pictures of what muscles you’re using.
