Are there different methods of describing tag stringing or wiring?
Yes (see diagram 3), and that’s an important question because the use of tags as a marketing tool is a constantly growing market. Fig. A illustrates an unusual method of tag stringing, called “looping.” This process involves punching a hole, inserting the string and looping, leaving the two loose ends which the customer would use to tie the tag onto something else. While this process can be accomplished automatically on high speed machines, there are no trade shops in Canada that can do so. I know of at least four different companies, and there may be more, who do looping, but they are tag and label manufacturers, who deal with the ultimate customer. Fig. B illustrates standard tag stringing. This process involves punching a hole, inserting the string and then knotting the end of the string. This process can also be done automatically on high speed machinery. I have seen people do the process illustrated in Fig. C, but I have never figured out why someone would want to. If our company
