Are there different goals for students in special education?
The goals remain the same for all students learning to read in English. Short-term objectives may be developed to monitor response to specific instructional objectives; however, we recommend monitoring in response to grade-level materials periodically to determine if progress is sufficient to catch up with peers. Remember that the DIBELS measures aren’t designed to assign grades to students. They are designed to determine which students need additional support and to evaluate how students are responding to intervention.
