A. To a degree, yes. Magazine work, or editorial as its known in the business, can be looser, more natural, and ultimately more creative. TV commercials and advertising shoots work under stricter parameters set by the client and their vision of how their products need to be portrayed. It can be difficult to please some clients, and the most challenging, in my opinion, is packaging photos. The image generally must be in a small space, with lots of type that must fit on the package with the photo. Clients are extremely particular about how the product must look, and the shoots can take a long time. Creativity plays a lesser role (technical know-how wins) in these kinds of shoots.
