Are there dangers to drinking energy drinks?
Individual responses to caffeine vary and these drinks should be ingested with caution because of how powerful they are. Some signs of energy drink abuse include restlessness, insomnia, excitement, irritability and increased urination. Large overdoses of caffeine in energy drinks may cause mania, depression, delusions and disorientation. If you suspect your teens of abusing energy drinks, talk with them. Try not to accuse or blame, this will only cause your teen to become defensive and stop open conversation. Let him or her know your concerns and discuss the dangers of too much caffeine, while providing positive support by listening to what you teen has to say.
