ARE THERE CRITERIA FOR A NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION?
There are no established criteria. However, generally speaking the following symptoms and guidelines may help you decide if a referral is warranted: • The symptoms should be present for a minimum of 2 to 6 months. In some instances of mild brain injury with minimal loss of consciousness, there may be a progressive increase in symptoms in the 4 to 6 months after the accident. • There is a history of problems in the developmental, medical, accidental injury, or chemical areas described previously. • There is a change in ability to complete school work, requirements at work, or a personality change.
