Are there compositions in carnatic music?
Carnatic music is one of the most sophisticated forms of music compositionally. There are literally thousands of major compositions that exist in carnatic music. Some are shorter and simpler works while some are longer and major works. Eg, the shorter/ simpler (in relative terms) works of Carnatic music could be likened to Schubert songs, arias, piano etudes of Chopin and so forth. The longer and more complex works can be likened to a Beethoven symphony, or a Stravinsky ballet or a Bartok String quartet or a Bach St. Mathews Passion and music of such depth, complexity and power.
