• *** *** The Oracle manuals, and Corrigan and Gurry strongly recommend distributing data files across multiple drives. We’ve been trying to compare performance and data redundancy issues for 3 sets of duplexed drives versus a RAID array with 4 disks. We know that in a standard test with sequential read/writes, duplexed disks outperform RAID arrays of comparable size. Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to find performance evaluations using a database application.
