Are there Brown Recluse spiders in Arizona?
The true brown recluse does not live in Arizona. It lives in an area from Dallas, Texas north to Iowa and in the southern US. It is possible for them to be transported throughout the US and therefore we must be vigilant. Arizona has a relative called the Arizona Brown Spider; a fiddleback spider. It is a nonaggressive spider found in undisturbed areas of homes, garages and sheds. It looks just like a brown recluse with the distinctive dark brown fiddle on its back.
