Are there any tips and suggestions while rearing a Doberman dog as a Guard?
If you want a Doberman for family/property protection, it would have to bred by a kennel that works/competes in sport & breeds for strong, clear headed dogs, with rock solid stable temperaments. Such a Doberman would not be cheap & fairly hard to find. If you purchase a puppy & want a reliable property protection dog it would have it evaluated by a professional dog trainer to determine if it was a suitable candidate for protection training. If the dog had the correct temperament/drives, it would not be a cheap option, as training would be $2,000 +. The other expensive option would be to purchase a fully trained family/property protection dog, but you would have to be prepared to pay a substantial amount of money for it. The average pet Doberman would make a good watchdog & will bark to alert the owner that someone is on the property, but when faced with a real threat would take flight/bark.
