Are there any States where learner-drivers are told to slow down before the corner, but accelerate out ?
You should be able to develop the technique to avoid allowing the wheel to slip through your hands. The slow down then power out of the turn is valid. Under extreme conditions, you brake late until just before you initiate the turn, since you want to be off the brakes as you turn, then add power as you complete the turn. Again, under special conditions, you dive into the turn, braking late. Get off the binders through the turn, then nail it as you are halfway through the turn. Don’t try this on your test, but learn to do it exactly as they say for the examination. BTW, see if you can see some steering wheel handling on YouTube. Search TopGear. The English car enthusiast show will demonstrate the technique used in the UK. The UK has a very difficult driving test and a big part is how to handle the wheel. They never allow the wheel to slip through the hand.
