Farmers are increasingly looking to diversify beyond agriculture to supplement their incomes through activities such as holiday accommodation, bed and breakfast, tourism developments, sport and recreational activities, nature trails, farm shops, equestrian businesses and industrial/storage accommodation. Farm diversification is advantageous in that it helps to diversify the rural economy and provides valuable local employment opportunities.
