Are there any specific rules governing the importation of food into China?

0

The State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine recently issued the Regulations for Administration of the Registration of Foreign Producers of Food Imports. The Regulations apply to the registration of foreign production, processing and storage enterprises (“foreign producers”) that ship food (including edible plant and animal products) into China. The State Certification and Accreditation Administration is responsible for formulating and publishing a List of Food Imports Subject to Enterprise Registration (the List). Any foreign producer that ships products on the List to China must apply to the State Certification and Accreditation Administration for registration. It is prohibited for an importer to import food products from unregistered foreign producers. Foreign producers that meet the specified conditions will be registered after approval from the State Certification and Accreditation Administration.
