Are there any specific incentives that Murcia is giving IKEA in order to attract more multinational companies?
Fundamentally, we are doing two things. First, the Regional Government, through fiscal incentives and subsidies, hopes to attract a variety of companies. The Regional Government can subsidize these new companies and industries up to 15% or 20% of the total investment. Secondly, we at the Municipal Government are assisting in the training and selection of the personnel. These requirements, as in the case of IKEA, are carried out with some special initiatives concerning women. There is a large female work force, and within this female work force, there are many women capable of having both a very fruitful family and work life. As I said, we are very closely collaborating with them in the selection of personnel and training courses. We have designed and managed very specific municipal training courses – as in the case of IKEA, like the new malls, with the opening anticipated for the next year – so that they can acquire the training at the appropriate levels.
