Are there any special service requirements for vehicles equipped with a DPF?

0

Vehicles equipped with a DPF require the use of low SAPS (Sulphated Ash, Phosphorus-Sulphur) engine oil. When replacing or topping up your engine oil, use only Low SAPS oil complying with the viscosity and specification stated in the Owner’s Manual. If normal engine oil is used instead of Low SAPS engine oil, ash, which is denser than the soot, will accumulate in the DPF which in turn reduces the amount of soot the DPF can store. Ash in the DPF cannot be burnt off and can severely reduce the life of the DPF.
