Are there any Special Section 8 Programs?
Yes, there are a number of special programs for which you may qualify and for which the waiting list may be shorter. The Family Unification Program promotes family unification by providing rental assistance to families for whom the lack of adequate housing is a primary factor in the separation, or threat of separation, of children from their families. The Mainstream Housing Program provides rental assistance to families in which the head of household or spouse is disabled and under age 62. The Designated Housing Program assists single, disabled individuals under 62. The Project-Based Program provides rental assistance attached to specific apartments in a number of the larger and newer affordable housing developments in the community. Where can I apply?
