LOW-INCOME FAMILIES BENEFIT FROM HEALTHY KIDS CHANGES The program was introduced as part of BC Benefits in 1996 to provide children growing up in lower-income families with key health services not covered by the Medical Services Plan. Healthy Kids benefits are available to children in low-income families who are not already covered by federal or employer-sponsored insurance plans. “The government of British Columbia is committed to helping families make ends meet and to promoting the healthy development of all B.C. children,” said Brewin.
