Are there any special features of the ODU DPT curriculum?
The curriculum provides students with all of the basic knowledge, skills and values necessary to be a successful physical therapist. Our emphasis is on active learning, with educational activities designed to engage the student in clinical problem solving, reflective reasoning and critical thinking. Students interact with standardized patients to fine-tune their hands-on skills and to develop an understanding of the patient-therapist relationship. The program is also tied with the group Physicians for Peace. This presents the students opportunities for cultural exchange and service learning with therapists and students in the Dominican Republic.
