Are there any similarity between Danish and Dutch languages?

0

I can understand written Dutch to a large degree, but it gets difficult when I hear it spoken. As far as the written portion goes, what I do to understand it is use English, German, and Danish as a reference, and it sort of works out. If I don’t understand a word, I can sound it out in my mind and I’ll remember a similar word in either of those three languages. But when I hear it spoken, I can’t really do that because it’s very hard to make out the words, but sometimes understanding it is spoken is dead-easy because the grammar is completely like English, sometimes like Danish, so what I try to do is pick up the first few words and see where they’re going grammatically.
