Are there any shareware defragmentation utilities?
——————————————————- There is a program called Fast Unfrag 1.0, but it hasn’t been updated since its initial release in 1992. (Insert standard warning about version 1.0 programs here.) I wouldn’t trust it myself, but I promise to try it the next time I’m about to reformat my hard drive anyway. In the meantime, I discourage you from using it. You should always back up your hard drive before using any defragmenting or optimization program. These programs have been known to eat data. The problems with Norton Utilities Speed Disk 3.0 were only the latest and most publicized example.
