Are there any rules to hanging window treatments?

0

With the influx of ready-made draperies in stores and catalogs now is a good time to review some of the rules. Many of the pre-made treatments I see today are too short. Do not hang them on the top of the window trim, this makes the room shorter and covers too much of the window. They should be hung within a few inches of the ceiling and approximately eight to ten inches out from each side of the window. This will allow the window to appear larger and higher, making the room look and feel larger. Always make sure your drapery panels are lined. It saves the fabric from fading and damage caused by the sun and it helps to keep the view from the outside of your home clean. Here’s a little secret of mine, get yourself a copy of The Silk Trading Co. catalog and try some of their fabulous silk panels and sheers. They are full, lined, long and gorgeous and will add instant glamour to any room. Buy a pair of their “Drapes in a Box” and you could give a party tonight! Definitely consider layerin
