Are there any rules governing use and retention of customer call information?
Until now, there are no statutory rules in place which require the retention of customer call information. On the contrary, data protection rules require that all customer call information is deleted, as soon as such data is no longer required for billing purposes, at the latest 6 months after billing. Germany has not yet implemented the EU Directive mandating data retention (2006/24/EC of 15 March 2006).
