Are there any restaurants like the ones on City Island, in Manhattan?
Stay away from BBQ it’s awful. There are much better, real non-tourist trap BBQ places in the city like Brother Jimmy’s and Dinosaur. For Manhattan, you won’t find too many restaurants that do ribs and fish. Most of them tend to specialize although probably one of Bobby Flay’s places would do this…they’re outrageously expensive though. For the closest seafood dining experience with similar pricing to City Island, you need to go to Freeport, Long Island. There are water views and everything from seafood shacks to more upscale restaurants right on the water. There is also the Water’s Edge in Long Island City which is right on the East River and looks out onto Manhattan. I can’t attest to the food, I’ve only been there for drinks.
