Are there any really good schools in South Africa?
If you fo public, your choice should focus on Former Model C schools, these are mostly very well equipped and of a similar standard to the better private schools, the langauges may be somewhat difficult, and would probably have to be done externally and boarding is very limited. If you are looking at Cape Town, St Cyprians is a very good and well known private school and offers what you are looking for, they do however; write the WCED exams, which are the standard government examinations. http://www.stcyprians.co.za/ The IEB is not really better than the government exams, and will offer no advantage when applying to SA universities. Unless your daughter has South African citizenship, or permanent residence she will find it almost impossible to get accepted to study medecine, even then she will need near perfect marks if she is white.
Hi, All the really good schools seem to be concentrated to KwaZulu-Natal although not limited to. I have been public schooled in SA and still managed to come to Europe’s most prestigious university…so I got to give our public system SOME credit 🙂 But I won’t recommend it unfortunately. For Crawford – http://www.crawford.co.za/schools_colleg… For Epworth Girls – http://www.epworth.co.za/ For Summit College in Sandton – http://www.summitcollege.co.za/index.php… many more good independant schools, just google. Good Luck!
