Are there any programs for high school students that begin after August 10th?

My son is working at a camp until then but does have 3 weeks off and he would love to go somewhere and do some volunteer work, or really, do anything. I’m not crazy about those programs that charge thousands of dollars for “community service” but with our restricted dates we are interested in anything that might be available.
