You can do most patterns on circular needles. Remember that when knitting circular every row is a right side row. This means that when doing the wrong side row of a pattern for 2 needles if the pattern says purl you knit and if the pattern says knit you purl. Most lace patterns you pattern on the odd (right side) row and the even (wrong side) rows are purl. These are easy to knit on circular needles. You just knit the pattern round. The next round you knit plain instead of purl. When you have a pattern where you knit 2 together on both the odd and even number rows you have to think which row any K2 tog faces and do the opposite. I would not recommend this for a beginner.
