Now, in regards to your brush fraying apart, first, make sure you are using a good quality brush for your inking. It doesn’t necessarily have to be the most expensive one in town, but make sure to feel out the bristles before purchasing. Always keep proper care by washing them after every use; regular hand soap is actually all you need to keep them clean.
