Are there any performance issues with multi-tier approach?
The whole thing can take a little while to initialise when you first start an environment, but once started we have not experienced anything that could be deemed a performance issue. In fact, since you can delegate tasks to back-end servers and then continue in the CGI layer tasks straight away, performance of some functions is actually greatly improved – especially when combined with Ajax.
