Are there any other auto manufacturers that have a feature like GMs OnStar?
A few automakers have introduced competitors to OnStar, including Lexus, Toyota, Mercedes-Benz and Ford. Not all share the same features, but all have some form of emergency response capability that will automatically alert a representative or 911 operator when a collision has been detected. Toyota calls their system Safety Connect, which comes on select Toyota models and includes a one-year subscription. Like OnStar, after the trial period you must pay the subscription fee. Features include a one-touch emergency button, automatic collision notification and stolen vehicle notification. Lexus also uses Safety Connect and includes the service for one year on 2010 models. Mercedes-Benz mbrace system includes automatic collision notification, emergency call feature and stolen vehicle recovery, among other features.
