Are there any organized events for the exchange students?
Yes, field trips, parties and events are held for the exchange students. Upon arrival there is a introductory party for the students to meet their host families and students at the university. There are also parties throughout the year to celebrate Japanese and world holidays (such as Halloween). Near the end of the program there is a farewell and awards ceremony. Besides the planned events for the exchange students there are numerous events on campus that you can participate in, including clubs and fairs. Konan University also arranges 3 field trips in Japan for the exchange stuents that are usually weekend trips. We went to a buddhist monestary in Koyasan and to Shikoku during the Fall; in the Spring we visited Hiroshima.
