Are there any options to removing the old woodstove or insert?

No. Non-certified woodstoves and fireplace inserts must be removed from the property or made permanently inoperable. If you would like to keep your old stove or insert as an ornamental furnishing for your home or yard, you must make the stove or insert permanently inoperable so it cannot be converted back into a working stove. This can be done by welding the door shut or drilling air holes in the stove. The Town may also provide additional time to comply for special situations.
