Are there any obligations on employers with respect to ensuring employment equity?

0

Persons employing 100 or more people on or in connection with a federal undertaking must identify and eliminate employment practices resulting in employment barriers against persons in designated groups, and institute positive policies and practices to achieve a proportionate representation of such people in the employer’s workforce. Such employers must also file annual reports concerning the number of persons they employ and the number in designated groups, with a breakdown by occupational groups and salary ranges; and the number of people in designated groups in each salary range. The Province of Qubec has an Act Respecting Employment Equity that applies to all private-sector employers, which provides for similar obligations.
