Are there any nudist beaches in gambia?
The popular beaches are all ‘protected’ meaning it is reserved for the tourist and locals don’t even get to use their own beach. Thus yes, it is possible to be nude on the beach but it is highly advisable not to. The government is corrupt and so is the police with extortion being a common occurrence, though tourists are protected in the ‘tourist zone’ I wouldn’t risk giving them an excuse to drag you down to the police station for a quick ‘chat’ and a ‘fee’. Remember, you represent the valuable chunk of Gambia’s GDP but with such an extreme difference in wealth per capita (as well as cultural difference), there is sentiment of resentment. Gambia is very accommodating to tourist wealth and cultural differences in the tourist area (protected zone) and will even prevent locals from entering certain roads with armed guards on a busy night. There are very quiet beaches if you go south along the coast. 40 min drive from banjul and you are almost at the border of senegal. Beautiful beaches an
