Are there any non-chemical ways to keep gypsy moths from eating my trees?
Keep your yard neat, remove dead branches, stumps, etc., where the adult female moth is likely to lay egg masses. Destroy any egg masses that are found. Tanglefoot Pest Barrier (can be found at most hardware stores and nurseries ) can be placed around tree trunks to help curtail the caterpillars movement into and out of the tree canopy make sure you remove it yearly and reapply like the container states. Also I have found that black pepper mixed with a little hot pepper can be sprayed on trees and other plants as a leaf eating deterrent. Sesame oil is also good.
