The most important thing to realize when considering ownership of a collie (or any breed) is the amount of real time required to care for the new puppy or dog. The prospective owner should evaluate his own schedule and lifestyle to determine if there is the time to housebreak and train a new puppy. Is someone available at home to feed and socialize him? Will he spend long hours at home alone while everyone is at work? Will someone be able to properly groom the dog or will a professional groomer be used?
