Are there any more countries like the UK looking at introducing similar bills to curb job losses?
As far as the UK is concerned, government there has clearly said that the companies should go where it makes competitive sense for the companies to do so. We really do not see other countries, including the UK, adopting this kind of protectionist measure. Is the US a big market for the Indian BPO/IT industry? Do you advise Indian BPO/IT companies to diversify in other markets, geographically? Yes, the US accounts for a majority share in the Indian IT software services and BPO exports. At present, exports to the US are almost 70% of the total Indian software services and BPO exports ($12 billion). Over a period of time, we expect the contribution of the US to our total exports to decline. However, the US is still likely to remain a major market for the Indian IT software, services and BPO exports.
