Are there any minimalist short story writers that write gothic or horror?
I’d need to know what you define as horror, but for the most part ‘gothic literature’ is stylistically the mortal enemy of minimalism, and most horror has gothic roots. So, it’s going to be a very sparse list if there is a list at all. On the transgressive front you could check out some of the stories in Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk. I don’t know that I’d call him minimalist, but an argument could be made. I’m really not familiar with splatterpunk as a genre well enough to say if anyone fits or not.
