Are there any major differences between Tibetan Buddhism and Indian Buddhsim?

Tibetan Buddhism has at its’ root Indian Buddhism. One could also assert quite confidently that the monastic Buddhism taught to this day is modelled after the Buddhism taught at Nalanda Monastery in India. You could also search Padmasambhava, Shantarakshita and Atisha (for starters) and see that these influential Indian masters were enormously kind in establishing the (Indian Buddhist) tradition in Tibet. That Tibet was closed off from most of the world until the early 1900’s allowed these lineages to flourish and continue to the present. Anyone who had a qualm about any point of debate would seek the opinion of these Indian pandits who have many commentaries on the words of the Buddha. There is a great book available from Paljor Publications called “The Indian Buddhist Pundits” and it is derived from the “Jewel Garland of Buddhist History.” Best wishes to you!
