Answer The symptoms of any lung carcinoma (not just an adenocarcinoma) are very subtle and vague until the tumor has become very advanced. So actually almost all lung and upper respiratory disorders have similar symptoms. The main symptom is coughing but that is VERY unspecific! Even the common cold has coughing. Even in a stage 4 lung cancer (including adenocarcinomas) there need not be any blood abnormalities and if there are any they may be very unspecific. 30 years ago or so my door bell rang. It was my neighbor on the floor below me (in the apartment right below mine)a police captain of detectives. A guy I had never seen without a cigarette in his mouth – he had then been living there almost for 10 years (and I was also working for the police at that time as a medical examiner so I knew him from that job too). He was then somewhere in his 50ies, married to the female superintendent of the house and a father of 4 or 5 children ranging in age from their 20ies to around 10. A son – n
