Are there any lower cost alternative plans?
Yes, the board received a plan from KCBA architects that was posted on the UCFSD web site. This alternative would provide the necessary additional classroom capacity, eliminate the modular classrooms, improve security, expand the cafeteria, expand the music wing, expand athletic facilities and add Administrative office space for a total of $21.5M. The $21.5M plan cannot be compared directly with the $70M plan. The $21.5M cost needs to be adjusted for 2 years of inflation and for site development costs, but even if the figure were inflated by 50% we’re still slightly over $30M. The board chose to ignore this alternative in favor of the current $70M plan.
