Are there any location restrictions for a safe room?
Yes. Safe rooms should be located outside known flood-prone areas, including the 500-year floodplain and areas susceptible to storm surge inundation as defined in Chapter 3 of FEMA 361, Design and Construction Guidance for Community Safe Rooms (Second Edition, 2008).
