Are there any length restrictions with DVI and HDMI cables?

0

Yes, in practice, we have found the longest length for DVI cables to be 10m and the longest for HDMI to be 25m. HDMI can be extended by 10m with a passive extender or 20m with a powered extender. Different lengths will also give different bandwidth and resolution. Lengths under 10m, or 32ft, can safely use 28AWG cores. Lengths over this should really be doubled in core thicknesses, but Cinema Cables chooses a little more again at 24AWG (approx 230% larger than 28AWG).
