Are there any laws on leaving children alone overnight?
There are laws, and only by checking with your local authorties can you be sure of what the laws say. Think of this: if there was to be any kind of emergency, such as a fire, injury to one of your kids or break-in by a burglar…. when the police discover these 3 kids overnight un-attended, you would certainly be in danger of having them taken from you by the county and put into foster care, likely in 3 different foster homes, while you try to work on a case plan that would allow your family to be re-united, which could take years. Don’t risk it.
There are no laws that dealt specifically with leaving children alone at night or overnight. It doesn’t matter whether it was day or night or overnight, the law of child neglect remains applicable if you abandon or neglect your child without care for a long period of time thus causing suffering to the child.
