Are there any known compatibility issues with D-Link DSL 200 USB modem?
1) The D-link 200 USB modem is incompatible with Mac operating systems. 2) The D-Link 200 USB modem will not work with any Linux, UNIX, or BSD – based operating system. 3) D-Link 200 USB modems have some known issues when used with some VIA technologies motherboard chipsets, particularly variants of the VIA VT8366/VT8233 chipset. The fault appears to lie with USB power management. This can cause the USB adapter to stop functioning at random. VIA have released a patch to address this issue, however we consider it to be unreliable at this stage as it does not appear to fix all issues. The patch is available at ftp://downloads.viaarena.com/drivers/others/usbf_110.zip. We recommend that customers with this type of motherboard choose the “no-modem” option on their contract, and purchase a modem through a third party provider.
