Are there any known Aboriginal heritage values of the grassland areas on the site?
Defence has conducted an assessment of the Aboriginal heritage values of the entire site as part of its recent due diligence investigations and assessments. The assessment was undertaken by Defence’s Heritage Consultant in collaboration with the four Registered Aboriginal Organisations in the ACT including the Consultative Body Aboriginal Corporation (CBAC), the Buru Ngunnawal Aboriginal Corporation (BNAC), the Ngarigu Currawong Clan (NCC) and the Little River Gudgenby River Tribal Council (LRGTC). The assessment found that there were eight Aboriginal sites and seven areas of Potential Archaeological Deposit areas. The assessment also found that the identified sites were not of high archaeological significance but possessed important cultural values to the local Aboriginal community.
