Are there any inspections made by the local Building Officials?

Yes there are. There are many different inspections made during the construction of your home or addition. The local town inspectors will visit the site and inspect the construction project many times during the time the project is being built. The foundation, the wood framing, the electrical, plumbing, heating systems, are all inspected during the construction, and again upon completion, to make sure that they are in compliance of the local Building Codes. The contractor will call and arrange for these inspections to be done.
