Are there any incentives or rebates available for switching to natural gas?
From time to time, Terasen Gas, furnace manufacturers and the provincial and federal governments offer rebates and subsidies to help underwrite the cost of converting to natural gas space and water heating. Current offers I have an oil tank. When should I consider replacing or removing it? Based on the typical installation, insurance companies generally will not completely insure a residential property if the oil tank is more than 20 years old, as they consider it a safety risk. Furnaces last about 20-25 years, so a good rule of thumb is to replace the furnace and tank at the same time.
