Are There Any Ideal Gearing Ratios for The Westfield XI?

Your situation may depend on whether or not you are building a track-only car, or a street car, and what engine, transmission and differential you will be using. The standard Midget/Sprite setup from your donor vehicle will most likely be the following: Gearbox: 1st – 3.2 (non-syncro) 2nd – 1.916 3rd – 1.357 4th – 1.0 Differential: 4.22:1 or 3.90:1 (will depend on the date of manufacture – please refer to the Midget/Sprite workshop manual) If you decide to incorporate different gearing, a helpful gearbox and differential calculator can be found on the Rover SD1 website, or on Peter Ogden’s Locost page.
